Terms of Service

These terms explain the rules for using Shikaly, in plain language. Please read them before you create an account. Last updated 20 October 2026.

Who we are and what these terms cover

Shikaly is a point-of-sale, inventory and business management service for shops and businesses, operated by BetaForge Labs ("Shikaly", "we", "us"). These terms apply when you create an account or use the Shikaly website, web app, desktop app, mobile app or any related service.

By creating an account or using Shikaly you agree to these terms. If you use Shikaly for a business, you confirm you are allowed to accept them on that business's behalf.

Your account

  • You must give accurate details when you sign up and keep them up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password, PINs and devices secure, and for activity under your account and your staff's accounts.
  • Tell us promptly at security@shikaly.app if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian's permission where the law allows.

Using Shikaly

You agree to use Shikaly lawfully and not to:

  • break the law, or sell goods or services that are illegal where you operate;
  • attempt to access other businesses' data, probe or disrupt our systems, or bypass security or plan limits;
  • copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service except as the law allows;
  • use Shikaly to send spam or unlawful messages.

Plans, billing and renewals

  • Paid plans are charged in advance for each billing period, in Ghana cedis unless stated otherwise, through our payment partner Paystack.
  • Plans renew automatically until you cancel or change plan. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current period.
  • Invoices are issued from billing@shikaly.app and in your account. If a payment fails we may retry it, and if it stays unpaid we may limit or suspend paid features.
  • Fees already paid are non-refundable except where the law requires, or where we say otherwise in writing.
  • Text messages sent through Shikaly count against your plan's monthly allowance.

Customer payments

When you accept card or mobile money payments from your own customers, those payments are processed by Paystack under its own terms. You must complete the business verification Paystack and we require before payouts are enabled.

You are responsible for your sales, prices, taxes (including VAT and levies), receipts and refunds to your customers. Shikaly provides tools to record these but is not your accountant or tax adviser.

Your data

You own the business data you put into Shikaly, such as products, stock, sales, staff and customer records. You give us permission to host, process and back it up solely to run the service for you.

How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. You can export your data from the app, and ask us to delete it when you close your account, subject to records we must keep by law.

Offline use

Shikaly is designed to keep selling when your internet is down and to sync when it returns. Until a device syncs, its data lives only on that device, so keep devices charged, backed up and secure. We are not responsible for data lost from a device that never synced.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Shikaly available but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may update, add or remove features, and will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce what you paid for.

Suspension and ending your account

You can cancel any time from your settings. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, fails verification or stays unpaid, and will tell you why where we can. On closure you can export your data for a reasonable period before it is deleted.

Our responsibility

Shikaly is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost sales, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have jurisdiction, unless the law gives you the right to go elsewhere. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue.

Changes to these terms and contact

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it applies. Continuing to use Shikaly after that means you accept the update.
